I was thinking about how writing lets us see a woman’s strength. Through writing, women can speak about what once could not be spoken. They can leave behind truths, secrets, courage, and memory for the generations coming after them.
That is part of why our ancestors carried songs and stories forward too, so brave women would not be forgotten. And when that power is combined with a pen, there is even more strength in it.
Men and institutions have long told their own stories, so why shouldn’t women write love letters of liberation to their daughters, friends, loved ones, and the women still to come?
Every voice deserves to be heard, regardless of race, ethnicity, or sex.
Now that I have more tools at my disposal, my blog, my book, and my platform, I want to write about women who, I know, have made a difference in the world, and especially in mine.
A woman who writes outlives every empire that tried to silence her, whether she writes it in a song, a painting, a movie, a story, or with a pen.
But write it.
Estaba pensando en cómo la escritura nos permite ver la fortaleza de una mujer. A través de la escritura, las mujeres pueden hablar de aquello que alguna vez no se podía decir. Pueden dejar verdades, secretos, valentía y memoria para las generaciones que vienen después.
Eso también es parte de la razón por la que nuestros antepasados transmitieron canciones e historias, para que las mujeres valientes no fueran olvidadas. Y cuando ese poder se combina con una pluma, hay todavía más fuerza en él.
Los hombres y las instituciones llevan mucho tiempo contando sus propias historias, así que ¿por qué las mujeres no habrían de escribir cartas de amor y liberación para sus hijas, amigas, seres queridos y las mujeres que todavía están por venir?
Toda voz merece ser escuchada, sin importar la raza, la etnia o el sexo.
Ahora que tengo más herramientas a mi disposición, mi blog, mi libro y mi plataforma, quiero escribir sobre mujeres que, yo sé, han marcado una diferencia en el mundo y, especialmente, en el mío.
Una mujer que escribe sobrevive a todo imperio que intentó silenciarla, ya sea que lo escriba en una canción, una pintura, una película, una historia o con una pluma.
Pero escríbelo.
